Entrant Information

On the reverse side in the upper left corner, the entrant should record;

  1. Name of entrant

  2. Title of print (optional)

  3. Category

  4. Month and year photo was taken

Entry Rules

  • Only paid members of London Horticultural Society may submit entries in this competition

  • Photos must be recent and the work of the entrant

  • Photo size must be 8” x 10” or 10” x 12” for clarity, and must be unframed

  • Photos must be mounted on 12” x 16” black bristol board

  • Each entrant may submit only 1 (one) photo per category

  • Winning photos will be published in the Hortigram, and may require images to be provided digitally for this purpose

  • Photos may be disqualified at the discretion of the judges

  • All possible care will be taken to safeguard entries; however, the Society assumes no liability for loss or damage

  • Closing date for entries is October 28, 2024

  • No digital enteries will be accepted

  • Awards will be available at the AGM in November

Since we were unable to hold a photo contest in 2023, photos for this year’s show can be taken in 2023 or 2024.

Join us for an informative evening as Brock Fenton talks to us about bats, one of nature’s most fascinating creatures.

Design Classes

1. “O’Hallowe’en” - a carved pumpkin or squash decorated with seasonal plant material

2. “Baby Boo!” - a dried miniature design (not to exceed 12.5 cm (5”) in height, width and

depth) including any container, base or accessories. The container should not exceed

3.5 cm (1.5”) in height

3. “Autumn Bounty” - an interpretive arrangement using foliage with fruits and vegetables

(no flowers)

Fall Flower and Vegetable Show, Plant Exchange, Refreshments (Lug-A-Mug) and Door Prizes

Flower & Vegetable Show Details: Please bring your own containers. Paper plates will be supplied for vegetables classes 1-3.

Only one entry per class. Cut flowers, herbs and vegetables must be grown by the exhibitor

and is a member of the London Horticultural Society. No invasive plants are to be used in

the horticultural or design competitions.

Horticultural Classes

1. Tomatoes, 5, small variety, calyx on and named

2. Tomatoes, 2, slicing variety, calyx on and named

3. Beans, 6 pods, any variety, named

4. Swiss Chard, 3 leaves, displayed in a transparent glass to show stems, named

5. Collection of cut herbs, 5 varieties in separate containers,1-3 stems of each, named

6. Sedum, 2 stems, named

7. Salvia, 3 spikes, named

8. Geranium (Pelargonium) with foliage attached, 1 stem, named

9. Rose, 1 stem (bloom, cluster or spray), named

10. Collection of mixed garden flowers in a suitable container, maximum 6 varieties,

named

Each stem of blooms should be of show quality

Design Classes

1. “Farmer’s Market” - a design using fresh Ontario grown produce to include some plant

material and flowers

2. “Down by the Thames” - a water viewing design up to 24” wide (no height restriction)

3. “Take a Hike” - a design in a boot or shoe

Gathering on The Green

Gathering on The Green

Join us at the 42nd edition of Gathering on the Green in the Wortley Village. The London Horticultural Society is pleased to be a long time participant in this great community event. We will have perennials, annuals, herbs and houseplants (all donated from our members) for sale as well as some gently used garden ornaments and tools. There will be Master Gardeners on site to assist you with your garden questions.
